Avaya Voice Engineer

Currently seeking to fill a Telecom Analyst position in support of an ongoing enterprise wide telephone system deployment. Good communication skills are required as the work involves interfacing with and explaining the telephone system options and functionality to internal clients. Good documentation and organization skills are required to work multiple simultaneous site deployments and detail implementation requirements to internal personnel and the external vendor. Primary system installation is turnkey work performed by the vendor. The successful candidate must be skilled with Nortel and Avaya telephone systems features and services to include Meridian Mail and Modular Messaging. Knowledge of accessing and manipulation of the database of both system types and voice mail is required. Existing systems being replaced are all standalone Nortel and Avaya systems (PBX and key systems). The new system is a core based Avaya IP solution with remote gateways at approximately 130 sites. A typical remote site deployment includes G450 and G430 gateways and 96XX series IP phones. The candidate should have a working knowledge of analog and digital telephone trunks to include: paging interfaces, analog CO and DID trunks, and T1 services including channelized mega-link and primary rate T1s. Physical environmental and power requirements and basic traffic analysis is required. An understanding of basic data networking fundamentals is needed.

The job is located in Raleigh, NC but travel is required throughout the Carolinas and Florida.
